Ottawa: Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc has ruled himself out of the Liberal leadership race, saying he needs to focus on trying to prevent U.S. President-elect Donald Trump from slapping tariffs on Canadian goods, which he says would be a grave threat to Canada’s economy. He made the announcement in a letter to supporters Friday, just as a leadership race got underway with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s resignation. The Liberal Party is also losing support. In recent pols Conservative party surpasses Liberals. Other potential contenders for taking over the leadership are Ministers François-Philippe Champagne, Jonathan Wilkinson, Melanie Joly, and former Bank of Canada governor Mark Carney. Details about the leadership race haven’t been announced so far, and nobody has actually declared a campaign.
