Chandigarh: A police constable was killed with sharp-edged weapons over a dispute over dogs in village Haul of Kasba Khanna in district Ludhiana.
The police cop was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries late in the evening on Sunday. According to the information, three people from the same village attacked him he was coming in his car.
Deceased was identified as Sukhwinder Singh.
Sukhwinder had an argument with the accused earlier over some issue related to dogs. After this, when victim was coming in a car, the miscreants stopped him and attacked him with sharp-edged weapons. The deceased was posted at the police lines.
One was arrested
The accused were earlier booked under Section 307, but now after Sukhwinder’s death, the accused have been booked under 302 (murder) of IPC.
Giving information, DSP William Jazzy said that Avtar Singh has been arrested from the accused.
Raids are on to trace the remaining two accused Sukhchain Singh and Gurvinder Singh.
The police took the body into custody and kept it in the mortuary of the Civil Hospital for post-mortem. The body to be handed over to the family after post-mortem examination.
