New Delhi: Delhi Court extended Enforcement Directorate custody of AAP leader Manish Sisodia by five days in connection with Delhi Excise Policy case.
During the hearing in the court, the ED said that Sisodia destroyed his phone, he needs to be questioned once again. At present, forensic analysis of the data found in the email, his mobile phone is being done. Sisodia’s counsel said the CBI registered an ECIR in August 2022, a few days after the FIR, seized the computer and examined it, and now the other agency wants to repeat the same process. Arguing this, Sisodia’s lawyer opposed the demand for extension of ED remand.
During the hearing in the court, Sisodia’s lawyer asked whether the ED is working as a proxy agency of the CBI? The ED will have to tell what happened to the Proceedings of Crime. It is not to say what crime happened.
Detention is not required for a conference, summons can be issued and a conference can be done.
Manish Sisodia himself told the court, “There is only half an hour of questioning every day. I was questioned late yesterday.”
“Two persons have been summoned to record their statements on March 18 and 19. On this, the court said that you can also get the content of data like email in jail.
The ED said that the investigation is at a crucial juncture, if the custody is not received now, then all the hard work will be wasted. The interrogation is being done under CCTV surveillance. Arrests were made only to trace 5 to 12 per cent and trace the proceeds of crime.
