New Delhi: Delhi BJP working president Virendra Sachdeva was detained by the police on Thursday. He was protesting against Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia for allegedly running a political intelligence unit to spy on rivals.
During this, he tried to cross the police barricading, after which he was taken into custody. BJP workers were protesting near the Delhi Secretariat demanding that Sisodia should be removed from the post of Deputy CM.
Recently, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader has formed a “Feedback Unit” or “FBU” after coming to power in the capital in 2015.
The AAP, however, termed the allegations as false and politically motivated. This is the latest in the allegations levelled against Sisodia by investigative agencies (which report to the BJP-led government at the Centre).
He has initiated an inquiry into Delhi’s now-scrapped liquor sale policy and accused Sisodia.
The BJP’s protest has started after reports that Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena, who also reports to the central government, had sent the CBI recommendation to the President through the Ministry of Home Affairs to register a case against Sisodia after an FBU probe.
