Ontario: Town of Caledon Mayor Annette Groves said she was “deeply disappointed” by the fast-tracking of Bill 23, hours after the Ontario government passed Bill 23, which is also known as More Homes Built Faster Act, 2022.

The Mayor said that on behalf of her GTHA Small Urban Partner Municipalities, she would like to emphasize that the province should consider the implementation of this Act and its impact on the future of our town, our residents and businessmen.

She said she has also convened an emergency council meeting to clarify her position on Bill 23. The purpose of this meeting is to provide an opportunity to the Council to take a concrete stand on Bill 23.

Apart from this, we also want to make the community aware of the impact of this proposed bill.

The Town of Caledon council on Friday unanimously passed a motion to stop the Bill 23 at once.

The bill is meant to address Ontario’s housing shortage by building 1.5 more houses by 2031.
