New York: Despite vaccination at the global level, the corona virus epidemic continues to rage. Global COVID-19 cases crossed the 600 million-mark on Saturday, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
The data showed that the number of global cases rose to 600,449,934 with 6,485,233 deaths worldwide as of 8:20 p.m. local time (0020 GMT on Sunday).
The United States accounted for 94,184,146 cases and 1,043,838 deaths, the highest number worldwide, as well as accounting for about 16 percent of global cases and more than 16 percent of global deaths.
India recorded the world’s second-highest case load with 44,398,696 cases. It was followed by France with 34,662,834 cases. Countries with more than 20 million cases include Brazil, Germany, the UK, South Korea and Italy, according to university data.
