New Delhi: The Assam Police on Thursday arrested Pawan Khera, the head of the Congress media department, from Delhi for making “derogatory” remarks against PM Narendra Modi. The Congress reached the Supreme Court pertaining to this matter.

During the hearing on the Congress’ petition, the Supreme Court said till the next hearing in the case, he should be released on interim bail by Dwarka court. Also, the court issued notices to UP and Assam Police on the demand to transfer all the cases to one place.

Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi told the court that Pawan Khera has been detained in the case registered in Assam. Cases are being registered all over the country.

The matter was heard by a bench comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice M R Shah and Justice PS Narasimha.

Pawan Khera had apologised for his mistake citing that it was “a mistake, a slip of tongue”.
