British Columbia: A potential strike threatens the Lower Mainland’s concrete supply as Teamsters Local 213 issued a 72-hour strike notice on Tuesday at 10:50 a.m. After eight months of negotiations with Heidelberg Materials, including mediation by Dave Schaub, key issues remain unresolved. Union members cite concerns over pay, job security, and “stable retirement,” accusing the company of “corporate greed” despite record profits. Heidelberg Materials, supplying about one-third of the region’s concrete, could face a disruption similar to the five-week strike two years ago.
