Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, in a tweet, today termed all of them as “ek thaali ke chhatte battee”, quoting leaders of various opposition parties who had gathered in Jalandhar recently to express solidarity with Dr Barjinder Singh Hamdard, editor-in-chief of Ajit newspaper. Mann, however, did not directly name any leader in the tweet.
Mann wrote, “When… Those who fed general dyers, those who climb tanks at religious places, those who desecrate Guru Sahib, those who fight the country in the name of religion, those who make anti-farmer laws, those who make smugglers sit in vehicles, who says ‘thokko taali’ on every issue and who earned money construction of memorials of the martyrs. It means they are all one and the same.”
Pertinently, the Punjab Vigilance had last week summoned Dr Barjinder Singh Hamdard to probe the funds spent on jang-e-azadi memorial. Leaders of various parties had gathered in Jalandhar on Thursday to condemn the state government’s decision.
Meanwhile, opposition leaders including SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia hit back at the CM in a tweet and slammed him for drinking alcohol and acting on the behest of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.
