Chandigarh: After the gang war in Goindwal Sahib Central Jail in Tarn Taran district, Punjab ADGP (Jails) cracked a whip on jail staff for dereliction in their duty.
ADGP Jail B Chandrasekhar suspended Assistant Superintendent Harish Kumar and launched a departmental inquiry against jail staff including jail superintendent during his visit to the jail.
ADGP Jail B Chandrashekhar visited Goindwal Sahib and took strong note of the negligence of jail superintendent Iqbal Singh Brar in connection with the bloody clash between the miscreants in the jail. Brar was on leave the day clash occurred in the jail.
In this gangwar, gangsters Mandeep Singh alias Toofan of Batala and Mohna alias Manmohan Singh of Budhlada, were killed by fellow inmates. They were associated with Lawrence Bishnoi and Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang and lodged in the jail in connection with Sidhu Moosewala murder case.
Assistant Jail Superintendent Harish Kumar has been suspended in connection with the case.
The police have registered an FIR in the case. The names of 7 gangsters have surfaced in the FIR. These include Manpreet Bhau, Sachin Bhiwani, Ankit Lati, Kashish, Rajinder Joker, Arshad Khan and Malkit Singh Mama.
The police investigating is underway and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has issued strict actions to the Punjab Police for investigation and also ordered to bring reform in the jails.
