New Delhi: Chief Justice of India U U Lalit today recommended the name of the senior-most judge D Y Chandrachud to the Centre as his successor.
The CJI has handed over a copy of his letter to Justice Chandrachud. The government had on October 7 written to the CJI asking him to recommend the name of his successor.
Justice Chandrachud likely to take over as the 50th CJI on November 9. A day before this, CJI Lalit will retire.
Justice Chandrachud will have a tenure of two years and will retire on November 10, 2024.
