Amritsar: The Aam Aadmi Party is claiming to annihilate drugs menace in Punjab, however “chitta” is allegedly being sold openly in Amritsar which led to death of many youngsters including two brothers this month.

Following this, posters have been put up by a ‘victim family’ that chitta ithe milada (chitti is available here) outside the walls and shops of the streets of the city to mark its protest against the administration and AAP government.

These posters have been put up in a market and locality falling near Shaheedan Sahib Gurdwara. The question marks are being raised on functioning of the Punjab police to combat drug smuggling.

As a result of the lax action of the police, drugs are being sold so openly in this area that the victims’ families have been forced to put up posters, a resident said. In the morning, when the residents of the area saw posters of ‘Chitta Itte Milda Hai’ on the walls, the police were also informed. It is being told that now the area police can take major action in this case soon.

Drug traffickers roaming around in public

Senior police officials have also received information about the posters in the market. Only after which the area police have come into action. People say that drug smugglers roam in public in the area. It is because of the addict youths that criminal incidents are more in this area. Police patrolling in the area is negligible.

Meanwhile, an inquiry has been initiated into the matter by the police and investigation is underway.
