Chandigarh: The problems of Bhupinder Singh Honey, nephew of former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, is set to accelerate as the Jalandhar District Session Court has framed charges against him and his associate Prakriti Deep in the case of illegal sand mining filed by the Enforcement Directorate under the money laundering case.
According to the information received, the the court of judge Rupinderjit Singh Chahal has framed charges against Honey and his friend Prakriti Deep.
Honey was arrested by the ED ahead of the Assembly elections in Punjab. He was arrested on the intervening night of February 3 and 4, 2022.
Honey was arrested in connection with a money laundering case related to the illegal mining case.
The ED had earlier this year raided the house of Bhupinder Singh Honey in Mohali on January 12. During this time, Rs 8 crore was received from there. Later, two crores were also found from the house of one of Honey’s friends. Honey could not give any answer about where such a huge amount came to him, officials said.
After this, Honey was arrested by the ED. During interrogation, he had admitted that he had charged money for the transfer of mining officials.
He, however, denied the involvement of former CM Channi in the case. The ED has also questioned Channi in this case.
