New Delhi: In view of the increasing cases of Covid-19 in China, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya held a review meeting on the pandemic situation with top officials and experts today.
After the meeting, the minister has decided to hold a review meeting of the Health Ministry every week on Corona. The central government has also advised people to wear masks in crowded areas and take precautionary vaccine dose.
In the meeting, Niti Aayog member Dr V K Paul said that there is no need for panic right now. There will be a review meeting in the Health Ministry every week. Testing is being done in sufficient numbers. In between, the Health Ministry will decide what more steps are to be taken. No new guidelines have been issued at the moment.
The central government has already directed all states and Union Territories to send samples of all Covid positive cases daily to the INSACOG Genome Sequencing Lab. INSACOG is a platform under the Ministry of Health to study and monitor different variants of Covid in India.
“In view of the sudden spurt in cases in Japan, the United States, Republic of Korea, Brazil and China, it is essential to devise genome sequencing of Covid positive cases to track new variants,” health secretary Rajesh Bhushan said in a letter to all states.
