Chandigarh: In view of possible threats from the country and abroad, the Centre has accorded ‘Z plus’ security cover to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The 49-year-old will be guarded by the VIP security squad of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). This security has been given to Mann after analyzing his security.
Sources said Mann will be provided top-class ‘Z- plus’ cover across India and the Home Ministry has recently given approval for the same. The CRPF will soon take over the task and a team of 55 armed personnel has been deployed for this.
Apart from Punjab Police security, the latest security cover will also keep the chief minister’s house and close family members safe.
Such a security cover was recommended for Mann by central intelligence and security agencies while preparing the chief minister’s threat perception analysis report in the wake of Khalistani activities in the border state.
