New Delhi: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today claimed that a CBI officer committed suicide because he was pressured to implicate him in a false excise case. He also hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying he only thinks of destabilising the governments in non-BJP ruled states by targeting MLAs.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had last month raided Sisodia’s Delhi residence after registering an FIR to probe alleged irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi Excise Policy, which came to light in November last year.

“A CBI officer was pressurised to implicate me in a false case of excise,” Sisodia alleged during a press conference.

He could not bear the mental pressure and committed suicide two days ago. It is really unfortunate, I am very distressed.

On the alleged suicide of the CBI officer, Sisodia said, “I want to ask the Prime Minister why so much pressure is being put on the officers that they are forced to take such drastic steps. Arrest me if you want, but don’t ruin the families of your officers.”

He said the Prime Minister should explain whether the agencies have now only task is to implement ‘Operation Lotus’ (forming government in non-BJP states).
