Victoria: The provincial government has issued an environmental assessment certificate to the partnership behind the proposed Cedar LNG project in Kitimat. It is majority owned by the Haisla Nation.
The environment minister and the minister of mines, energy and low carbon innovation say they have concluded that the project can fit within B-C’s climate targets and goals.
They say the environmental assessment certificate was issued with 16 legally enforceable conditions, including a requirement that Cedar LNG implement a greenhouse gas emissions reduction plan that addresses provincial targets.
The project also requires a federal impact assessment and decision before Cedar LNG Partners would be able to start construction. — Canadian Press
