BC: With the new school year approaching, B.C. teachers will be responsible for setting and enforcing cellphone usage guidelines in their classrooms. This follows a provincial initiative aimed at protecting students from online threats. The BC Teachers’ Federation emphasized that cellphone rules will vary by classroom, allowing teachers autonomy to decide based on their teaching style and students’ needs. Concerns over technology inequity among students have also been raised, with the Vancouver School Board already implementing restrictions for younger students to promote focused learning.
