Vancouver: The B.C. government is urging people and businesses to make water conservation a priority as drought conditions worsen in parts of the province.

The province said as of today, more than two thirds of its water basins are in the highest levels on the drought scale.

Four of B.C.’s 34 water basins are at a Drought Level Five while 18 others are at Drought Level Four.

The Level Five areas include Fort Nelson, West and East Vancouver Island and Bulkley Lake.

Provincial staff are now monitoring and working to balance water use with environmental flow needs. — Canadian Press
