Amritsar: A clash broke out between supporters of Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh and police outside Ajnala police station in Amritsar on Thursday, police said.

Amritpal Singh’s supporters broke police barricades with swords and guns and situation turned tensed in the area.

Amritpal Singh’s supporters gathered outside Ajnala police station to protest against the arrest of close aide Lovepreet Toofan Singh.

Reacting to the this, Amritpal said that the FIR was lodged for only one political motive and warned the police, “If they do not cancel the case, the administration will be responsible for what happens next. They feel we can’t do anything, so this show of strength was necessary.”

Earlier, Amritpal Singh had announced a siege of Ajnala police station, to maintain law and order situation, the Punjab Police had imposed strict restrictions.

The police had imposed stringent restrictions to stop Amritpal Singh’s supporters, but all this went in vain. Meanwhile, there was a clash between Amritpal Singh’s supporters and the Punjab Police.

The police lathi-charged at the protesters. Despite all this, Amritpal Singh reached Ajnala police station with his associates. The situation remained tense.
