Amritsar: Amid facing opprobrium from various sections of Sikh community, Amritpal Singh, head of Waris Punjab De, met the Akal Takht officiating Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh at Akal Takht Secretariat with his security personnel carrying weapons on Friday.

Reacting over carrying the Guru Granth Sahib saroop at the protest site in Ajnala, Amritpal Singh said that he will present his side before the committee. Ethically, he is not wrong. He is ready to bow down if someone proves him wrong in principle.

On committee formed by Sri Akal Takht Sahib, he said that if the Supreme Court of Sikhs summons him, he will definitely appear. He is not a fugitive from Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

Amritpal Singh said that his side will remain the same as he has been saying. From Sant Kartar Singh to World War 2, he has the reference to whatever happened. So he will present his side before the Akal Takht.

On the question of carrying weapons to the Golden Temple, Amritpal Singh said that the Gurus gave the principle of Miri-Piri. Sikhs should be happy that they are reviving the tradition. “Those who do not understand this should understand that Sikhism is different. It’s difficult that people try to define us, that’s what is difficult.”

On threat to his life, he said that agencies wanted to eliminate him
