Chandigarh: Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh on Monday called meeting of Sikh organisations to discuss the situation in Punjab. In this meeting, about 70 Sikh organizations were invited for talks.

Sikh organisations, which came out after the meeting, said that a 24-hour ultimatum has been given to the government. If the arrested young Sikhs are not released, then big action may be taken.

Giani Harpreet Singh said that Sikh community is being attacked and defamed under well-planned conspiracy. No political party was invited to this meeting called this time. Only intellectuals, Sikh religious organizations were invited.

After the meeting, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) principal advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that if the government does not listen to them, they will send letters to panchayats and meetings across Punjab to inform people about the atrocities being committed on Sikhs.

SGPC to fight legal battle for arrested Sikhs

Advocate Dhami, while pronouncing the order of Giani Harpreet Singh, said that the legal battle of the captured Sikhs will be fought by the SGPC. The issue of those who have been charged NSA will be raised in the High Court. If someone has made their lawyer, they will be given financial assistance. For this, families have been asked to contact the SGPC.

Legal action will also be taken against national channels

The meeting also agreed to take legal action against national channels. SGPC chief Dhami said that attempts were made to defame Sikhs on national channels. Everything was exaggerated. Legal action will now be taken against them.
