Ottawa: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with the Premier of British Columbia, David Eby, here on Monday.
Both the leaders talked about ways to improve housing supply and affordability for people in the province while working together.
During the conversation, the Prime Minister pointed at the latest decision of the federal government of removing GST and HST on new apartment buildings for renters.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Justin Trudeau appreciated David Eby’s government for its strong commitment to tackle housing issues.
Meanwhile, the two leaders also talked about the efforts to drive clean economic growth in B.C. They also considered how investments in the clean economy and partnerships with Indigenous communities will open new economic opportunities in the province, including in the areas of critical minerals and hydrogen.
During the meeting, the issue of public safety came up. The Prime Minister and the Premier discussed the federal legislation to strengthen the bail regime.
Both the leaders agreed to work together on issues that matter to British Columbian and remain in touch.
