Chandigarh: A child playing in the street was run over by the driver of ACP (Assistant Commissioner of Police) in Punjab’s Ludhiana district. The child succumbed to his injuries. After the accident, the driver himself took the child to the hospital. From there, the family was informed that the child had died. Police processed the case as a natural death, which has raised questions over the police.

The incident took place in Vikas Nagar’s Street No. 3. The boy’s uncle Dharmesh said a senior police officer lives in his locality. On Sunday, his driver opened the gate of his cell and pulled out the Fortuner car.

At the same time, when people saw blood scattered at the scene of the incident and asked the driver, he said that a cat came under his car. Dharmesh said he received a call from the hospital that his child had died. He said that when he reached the hospital, they came to know that he was crushed to death. Police have also reached the spot.

Deceased child’s uncle Dharmesh said the officer or his driver did not even once express condolences to the family. At the time of the incident, the car was a Fortuner, but now the police are showing another vehicle in the police station. The child’s body has been sent for post-mortem.
