Chandigarh: In a major development, the Morinda sacrilege case accused Jasvir Singh alias Jassi died in Morinda Civil hospital on Monday late evening.

According to the information, he was lodged in a Mansa jail and jail authorities admitted him to the Civil Hospital in Mansa after he complained about chest pain and having trouble breathing. He died during the treatment and no official information has been given by the government yet in this regard.

Meanwhile, the police have swung into the action and investigation is going on.

At the same time, the question is arising on the jail authorities over his suspicious death as earlier an advocate had also attempted to eliminate him during a court hearing. SSP Nanak Singh said that the accused Jasbir Singh was admitted to the hospital around 4 pm today due to ill health and at 9 pm Jasbir died during treatment in the hospital. He, however, denied any attack on him.

Recently, an attempt was made to desecrate the Guru Ghar in Morinda, Punjab and the granthi of the Gurdwara was fatally attacked. After which the Punjab Police took the accused into custody. The video of the incident went viral on the internet and people sought stern action for the accused.

Meanwhile, a probe has been ordered into the matter by the Punjab Police.
