New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday named Isudan Gadhvi as party’s Chief Ministerial face for the upcoming Gujarat assembly polls.
The former TV anchor and journalist Isudan Gadhvi got 73 per cent votes in a poll conducted by the party. More than 16 lakh people have voted to select the CM face.
The party had launched a number and email ID seeking suggestions from the people of Gujarat to name the party’s CM candidate on October 29 and people voted through SMS, WhatsApp, voice mail and e-mail to select 40-year-old Gadhvi as their CM candidate from the AAP party.
Announcing the name, Delhi Chief Minister and party supremo Arvind Kejriwal said that AAP is a real democratic party and select its CM face on basis of the opinion submitted to the party by the people of Gujarat and they chose Gadhvi as their CM face.
Gadhvi, a national general secretary of the AAP and a member of its national executive, worked as a media professional. He joined AAP in June 2021.
Thanking the CM Kejriwal, AAP’s Gujarat CM face Gadhvi said that he is grateful to AAP supreme Kejriwal, all workers and especially the people of Gujarat for showing faith in him and giving such a big responsibility to a common man like him.
“I promise that by becoming a servant of the people, I will work dedicatedly for the welfare of the public and bring a chance in the Gujarat,” Gadvi said, after the announcement.
Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that the people of Gujarat, who have made up their mind for change, have chosen the name of their new CM.
He said that unlike traditional parties, which take decisions from Delhi, AAP is a true democratic party and implements all pro-people decisions only after seeking suggestions from the people. He said that people of Delhi and Punjab selected their CMs and now Gujarat’s public did the same. AAP is a party of people and it’s only agenda is to empower poor and give them their deserving rights.
