Chandigarh: Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat is on a visit to Punjab today. He held a press conference at the Punjab BJP office in Chandigarh and attacked ruling Aam Aadmi Party government.
He said that the atmosphere in Punjab has deteriorated during the tenure of Bhagwant Mann government.
Punjab BJP president and MLA Ashwani Sharma and Delhi Lok Sabha member and singer Hans Raj Hans were among those present on the occasion. Three prominent faces from Jalandhar including former Jalandhar DCP Rajinder Singh also joined the BJP. Singh could be fielded as BJP candidate in the Jalandhar by-election.
Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat called Mann government irresponsible and inexperienced. “Punjab is a border-sensitive state. If the situation worsens, the situation is expected to be terrible.” Shekhawat said that some people are trying to bring back the bad phase of terror in Punjab, but the AAP government has failed to fulfill all its promises. He accused the government of only doing eye wash activities.
Shekhawat said that extortion cases, including drug and gun culture, were at its peak in Punjab. Players and singers were shot dead, but the Punjab government has completely failed to strengthen law and order.
