Ontario: Canadian musician Jacob Hoggard is currently on trial for sexual assault in northeastern Ontario. The complainant testified that Hoggard raped her, choked her, slapped her, and urinated on her after a concert in Kirkland Lake eight years ago. Hoggard has pleaded not guilty. His defense lawyer claims that Hoggard and the complainant flirted during a bonfire after-party and had a consensual one-night stand. Two crew members from the concert are expected to testify and contradict the complainant’s account. Hoggard was charged in 2022 for the alleged assault that occurred on June 25, 2016. The trial is taking place in Haileybury, with a jury of fourteen, including two alternates. Hoggard stood up in court and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
