Ottawa: NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh has announced that his party is withdrawing from the supply-and-confidence agreement with the Liberals, which was designed to keep Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s minority government in power. Singh criticized the Liberals as ineffective and selfish, claiming they have let people down. The deal, which was supposed to last until June 2025, allowed the NDP to support the Liberals on key votes in exchange for advancing progressive policies. With the NDP pulling out, the Liberals will now need to seek support on a case-by-case basis to avoid triggering an election.
