Ottawa: Immigration Minister Marc Miller, a close friend of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, acknowledged the Liberal Party’s byelection loss in Toronto-St. Paul’s as a wake-up call but insists Trudeau is still the best leader to challenge the Conservatives. Miller stresses that the party must address the affordability crisis impacting Canadians, especially housing costs, while drawing clear contrasts with Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre, whom he criticizes for using negative and theatrical political tactics. Despite the loss and declining poll numbers, Trudeau plans to continue leading, aiming to restore trust by tackling key issues and renewing focus on helping Canadians.
