New Delhi: On Wednesday, Delhi police reported that the Police Control Room in North Block, which houses the Ministry of Home Affairs, received a bomb threat via email. The Delhi Fire Service dispatched two fire tenders to the scene. Officials confirmed that the dog squad and bomb disposal teams were deployed.

This incident follows a series of bomb threat emails sent to several schools in Delhi-NCR, Jaipur, Uttar Pradesh, and Bengaluru, which turned out to be hoaxes, causing widespread panic.

In April, the High Court requested a detailed status report from the Delhi government regarding these hoax bomb threat emails in private schools. On May 17, the Delhi Police submitted a status report to the Delhi High Court, detailing the deployment of five bomb disposal squads and 18 bomb detection teams across various districts, including IGI airport, railway stations, and the metro.

The report noted that 1,764 schools fall under the Central Range, 1,032 in the Eastern Range, 1,762 in the Southern Range, and 76 in the New Delhi Range.

A petitioner has called for the formulation and implementation of a comprehensive action plan by the Government and Police to address the recurring bomb threats in schools. The petition emphasizes the need for regular evacuation drills and safety exercises to ensure the security of school children, who are particularly vulnerable to such threats.
