British Columbia: Wildfires have led to air quality advisories in parts of British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and the Northwest Territories. Environment Canada warns that wildfire smoke can severely affect air quality and visibility, posing health risks even at low concentrations. The advisories cover various regions, including northeastern B.C., northern Alberta, central Saskatchewan, and parts of Manitoba and the Northwest Territories. The smoke is expected to spread further, reaching cities like Winnipeg and Saskatoon, and even extending into Ontario and Quebec. Currently, there are 138 active wildfires across Canada, with Alberta and B.C. having the highest numbers, including some that are “out of control.”
