British Columbia: Get ready to slather on sunscreen and don a wide-brim hat because Environment Canada’s meteorologist Ken Dosanjh predicts a significant temperature spike across British Columbia after last week’s typical spring weather. Expect temperatures to exceed 30°C in parts of the Interior, with sunny days and warmer nights until Monday when cloud cover and cooler temperatures are anticipated. Kamloops could see a high of 32°C on Saturday, breaking a heat record dating back to 1971. Other areas like Kelowna, Penticton, Clearwater, Lillooet, and Cache Creek might also experience temperatures surpassing 30°C. Even Prince George is set for highs of 26°C on Friday, well above the seasonal average. However, coastal regions like Vancouver will be cooler, with temperatures around 21°C, rising to 27°C inland. Dosanjh advises against prolonged exposure to cold bodies of water despite the heat, reminding residents of the risk of hypothermia. Last year’s above-average temperatures at this time led to early wildfire activity, Dosanjh notes
