British Columbia: The B-C government is setting new targets to reduce poverty with a focus on children and seniors.
Poverty Reduction Minister Sheila Malcolmson says new legislation introduced today will set higher poverty reduction targets while
easing employment requirements for people who are income assistance.
The new legislation commits the province to cutting overall poverty by 60 per cent in the next decade.
The goals also include a poverty-rate reduction target of 75 per cent for children and 50 per cent for seniors.
