British Columbia: Statistics Canada says Vancouver residents who don’t own their homes face great financial pressures that take a toll on their mental health and perceptions of their quality of life.
The agency says survey results over the last few years show renters are more prone to reporting lower quality of life than homeowners, especially in Vancouver and Toronto.
It says survey results have indicated that Vancouverites are significantly less likely to report having good or excellent mental health than those living elsewhere in B-C.
The agency says nationally, just over 51 per cent of Canadians said they had high overall life satisfaction, compared with about 48 per cent of B-C residents on average.
