British Columbia: The B-C Prosecution Service says it has appointed a special prosecutor following a police investigation into an alleged assault on a Crown lawyer earlier this month at the provincial courthouse in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.
It says lawyer Chris Johnson has now approved charges against a man, including one count of assault and one count of assault causing bodily harm.
The man’s next appearance is scheduled for today at the same courthouse.
The prosecution service says Johnson’s appointment was made to avoid any ethical issues that may arise in the administration of justice given that one of the alleged victims is employed as Crown
counsel.
