Ottawa: The Centre for Future Work is estimating the Canadian grocery sector’s profits will likely rise eight per cent from last year to a record of more than six-billion-dollars.
The centre says food retailers are now earning more than twice as much profit as they did before the pandemic started.
Executives from Loblaw, Walmart Canada and Empire appeared before a commons committee last week and said they had been taking action to help stabilize food prices.
