Chandigarh: The Punjab government on Friday regularized the services of 12,710 contractual teachers working in the state education department.
The Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann, handed over regularization letters to the teachers at an event organised in Tagore Theatre.
Speaking at the event, Bhagwant Mann said issues of the teachers will be addressed as the government is making all-out efforts in this regard.
He also announced that the state government will soon launch a bus service for the girl students studying in government schools, adding that a pilot project will be launched for 20,000 students — 12,000 girls and 8,000 boys.
The Chief Minister said a budget of Rs 21 crore has already been passed for the project, the aim of which is to facilitate the girl students for completing their studies in government schools.
“These buses will be enabled with a GPS system so that the parents can keep a check on the movement of buses. It is a step forward towards ensuring safety and security of girl students,” he added.
