Port Moody: Police are investigating an attempted robbery incident that occurred in Newport Village Tuesday morning.
The Port Moody Police said at about 10 am, officers were called to the 200 block of Newport Drive after several suspects attempted to rob a business.
“The suspects allegedly produced a firearm during the encounter and then assaulted a female employee,” the police said in a statement.
During the incident, the employee did not suffer any serious injuries.
The suspects were unable to obtain any cash or products and fled the scene westbound on Newport Drive in a dark grey S.U.V. with an obstructed licence plate, the police added.
The police have released an image of suspects in which they are seen wearing dark clothes with surgical masks. They have been described as two males, early 20’s with slim build.
“This incident occurred in broad daylight and is very concerning for a safe community like Port Moody,” said Constable Sam Zacharias.
“Anyone with CCTV or dash camera footage from the area is asked to contact our investigators. Additionally, anyone with information is asked to contact us or Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers if they wish to remain anonymous,” he added.
