Chandigarh: Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Tuesday received two-day police remand of IAS officer Sanjay Popli, who is an accused in a disproportionate assets case.
VB said he was produced before the Court of CJM Mohali on Tuesday, which grated a two-day police remand of the accused.
A VB spokesperson said he was in Central Jail, Patiala, after a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and 120-B of the IPC was registered against him.
Officials said during the investigation of the case and on the basis of his disclosure statement, various articles, including 9 bricks of gold (1 kg each), 49 gold biscuits of different weights, 12 gold coins of gold, 3 bricks of silver (1 kg each) and 18 silver coins, were recovered from his house.
The estimated value of seized gold and silver is said to be Rs 6.62 crore. Officials are scrutinizing records of his properties, salary statements, bank accounts and other assets.
