Chandigarh: Members of the flying squad, constituted by Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, caught three conductors for allegedly swindling government exchequer and passengers.
According to the Transport Department, one conductor had cheated passengers of about Rs 1,200, while another conductor has been reported in two embezzlement cases in two days.
Divulging further details, Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar said during the checking at Khanna, the flying squad checked a bus (PB-02-EG 4728) of the Tarn Taran depot, which was on the way to Tarn Taran from Delhi, wherein conductor Jaskaran Singh was found not issuing tickets to passengers despite collecting Rs 1,170 from them.
He said during the checking of a bus (PB 10HT 2834) of the Ludhiana depot at Haidon, conductor Sanjay Kumar was found to have misappropriated Rs 615, which he collected from the passengers but did not give them tickets.
According to the Transport Department, earlier, conductor Sanjay Kumar did not collect adda fee of three buses, causing a financial loss of Rs 283.
Taking action, he was deputed on the bus.
The Cabinet Minister said the flying squad conducted a check at Banikhet in Himachal Pradesh where a bus conductor Manjit Singh, posted at Bus No. PB-02-EG 0964 of Amritsar-1 Depot, has been reported for collecting Rs 490 from passengers, but he did not issue them tickets.
