Sunshine Coast: The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been deployed to the Sunshine Coast after a man was found dead in Halfmoon Bay, which is a part of the Sunshine Coast Regional District, following a report of a shooting.  

In a press release, B.C. RCMP said on June 22, officers of Sunshine Coast RCMP were called to  the 8000-block of Birch Way, Halfmoon Bay, at 3:38 am after a report of a shooting. 

The RCMP said despite efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries. 

“A suspect was identified at the scene and taken into custody,” the IHIT said. 

IHIT has been investigating the incident in partnership with the Sunshine Coast RCMP Detachment, BC Coroners Service and the Integrated Forensic Identification Section.

At this time, investigators are still working to confirm the identity of the victim, the IHIT said. 

“We’re asking anyone with information about this incident to please contact IHIT immediately,” says Constable Tupper of IHIT. “We believe this is an isolated incident and there is no continuing risk to public safety,” he added.
