Chandigarh: While former Punjab Chief Minister and Congress leader Charanjit Singh Channi is facing allegations of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, he is now also facing allegations of misuse of the CM’s post. These allegations are related to his nephew Honey Singh.
Now Punjab Vigilance has also started an investigation into the VVIP facilities given to Channi’s nephew Honey at during his tenure as CM. The Vigilance Director has sought details from the DGP’s office about the security provided to Honey, the commandos accompanying him and the escort gypsies. He had two escort vehicles and 18 to 22 commandos, who stayed with him for 24 hours.
It is being investigated that who issued the orders to provide facilities to Honey and where did the instructions come from? Vigilance is investigating that Channi’s nephew was in no way given a constitutional post by the state government, nor was he posted as chairman of any corporation or board or any other important post.
During the preliminary investigation, many facts are coming out in which it is clear that providing special security to him is a violation of the norms of Punjab Police.
Investigation revealed that Honey used to visit the CM’s residence. He had also taken a house in Homeland Township in Sector 70, Mohali, where he was provided full security. Several video clips of Homeland have also been obtained by vigilance.
