Amritsar: On the 39th anniversary of Operation Blue Star, the security arrangements has been tightened around the Golden Temple for the last two days. Sikh devotees have started gathering since Tuesday morning to pay obeisance at Darbar Sahib.

Some have pictures of the Blue Star operation in 1984, while some are holding posters demanding Khalistan in a peaceful manner.

According to the information, after the bhog of Akhand Path, the families of the Sikhs killed during the Blue Star operation will be honoured. After this, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh will also give a message to the community.

Police, commandos and paramilitary forces are deployed outside the Golden Temple. Along with this, forces are also deputed in the Golden Temple premises in plain clothes to avoid any untoward incident, officials said.

Sri Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh has already sent a copy of the decision taken by the five Sahibans to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) that no one will raise zindabad or murdabad slogans in the Golden Temple premises.

However, it remains to be seen whether Khalistani supporters who raise Khalistan slogans opposing the SGPC and Jathedar every year will obey these orders this year.
