New Delhi: Wrestlers protesting against wrestling association president and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Brij Bhushan Singh have postponed their decision to throw their medals in the Ganga river. All the wrestlers present at Har Ke Padi in Haridwar have now withdrew.

The wrestlers have now given a 5-day ultimatum to take action against Brij Bhushan. The wrestler reached Haridwar with his medal on Tuesday evening.

After reaching Haridwar, these wrestlers had said that when the government is not ready to listen to them nor take action against the accused MP, then what is the use of winning these medals for the country.

Many top protesting wrestlers including Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, Sangeeta Phogat, Sakshi Malik have reached Haridwar. These wrestlers have accused Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexual harassment.

The wrestlers had resumed their agitation on April 23, demanding the arrest of WFI chief Brij Bhushan. He has been accused of sexually assaulting several women wrestlers, including a minor. The wrestlers, who were protesting at Jantar Mantar, were removed from there on May 28.

According to the information received, the wrestlers have also decided to sit on an indefinite fast at India Gate after returning from Haridwar.

However, the Delhi Police said that no one will be allowed to hold any kind of demonstration or fast in or around India Gate.

On May 28, the Delhi Police removed these wrestlers from Jantar Mantar when they were going to take out a march from Jantar Mantar to the new Parliament on the occasion of the inauguration of the new Parliament building. The wrestlers were later detained by the Delhi Police.
