Ottawa: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is on a week-long visit to Asia on Monday. During this time, he will participate in the G-7 leaders’ summit to be held in Japan as well as make his first formal visit to South Korea.

Trudeau’s visit comes at a time when all countries are jointly facing challenges such as security challenges, economic instability as well as climate change.

Canada’s top priority will be to further strengthen ties between partner countries to meet these challenges.

The Prime Minister will be in Seoul between May 16 and 18. Late last year, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol visited Ottawa.

Since then, both countries have released their Indo-Pacific strategies. Under these, it was decided to try to reduce Chinese influence by further strengthening economic and military relations in the region.

Canada is looking forward to cooperation from the G-7 countries in dealing with issues such as climate change, along with the cooperation being given to Ukraine.
