Mumbai: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a corruption case against Sameer Wankhede. The CBI has registered this case on the basis of the fact-finding report of the NCB’s vigilance report.
Sameer Wankhede had arrested Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan two years ago in the alleged cruise drugs case.
At that time, Sameer Wankhede was an officer of the Mumbai Narcotics Control Bureau. Along with this, the CBI has raided the premises of Sameer Wankhede and two other accused. Searches are being conducted at 29 locations including Delhi, Mumbai and Ranchi.
Wankhede was the Mumbai zonal head of the Narcotics Control Bureau when he and others raided a cruise off the city’s coast in 2021. In this case, Aryan Khan spent four weeks in jail. However, he was cleared of all charges by the anti-drugs agency in May 2022 “due to lack of sufficient evidence”.
The NCB had conducted a vigilance inquiry into the Aryan Khan case against Sameer Wankhede, a report of which was also submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
In this report, serious allegations were made against Sameer Wankhede.
Wankhede is also accused of demanding Rs 25 crore from Shah Rukh Khan’s family and taking Rs 50 lakh from it.
