During the voting, there has been a ruckus over the presence of AAP MLAs and workers from outside the districts in Jalandhar. BJP’s Punjab chief Ashwani Sharma has filed a complaint to the Election Commission and the DGP demanding that a case be registered against them.
Earlier, Congress candidate Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary has also complained to ECI seeking action against AAP workers for the violation of code of conduct.
There were reports of presence of outsiders at AAP polling booths in many places across the Jalandhar. After which the police have started warning them to leave the district or face the legal action.
Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress workers clashed in Rupewala village of Shahkot. Congress MLA from Shahkot Hardev Singh Ladi Sherowalia alleged that AAP MLA from Baba Bakala Dalveer Singh Tong was roaming in Jalandhar. According to the Election Commission rules, outsiders cannot come to Jalandhar on the day of voting. Despite this, MLAs are influencing voters here, Congress claimed.
MLA Tong was also locked in a room by Congress workers in Shahkot. On reaching the spot, the police detained MLA and registered a case against him for violating code of conduct.
