Chandigarh: The father of a Congress MLA in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district has been nominated as accused in murder case of 25-year-old youth who was murdered in a honour killing at Pahra village.
Gurmeet Singh Pahra, father of MLA Barindermeet Singh Pahra has been booked in a murder case. Apart from him, others booked have been identified as Raju, Kulwinder, Lava and Bobby have been named in the FIR, police said.
According to the police, Shubham (25) was murdered due to honour killing as he had an illicit relationship with a girl from the village. Disgruntled over this, accused had killed him.
The deceased’s mother Reena said that accused Bobby, and others forcibly took his son from the house and later his body was found from the fields in the village. The family got the girl married somewhere else.
After his name cropped up in the case, the Gurmeet Singh Pahra has denied the allegations. He said that it is a case of political vendetta. MLA Pahra is currently busy campaigning in Jalandhar.
Meanwhile, he has not been arrested yet in this case.
