Jalandhar: Flaying the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for seeking one more year to perform, Punjab’s Leader of the Opposition (LoP), Partap Singh Bajwa on Wednesday said that with such a statement, the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government conceded that it had failed to perform in the state in its one-year rule.

Senior Congress Leader Bajwa said, “With the poor performance in the first year of his regime, Punjab CM has lost the right to seek another opportunity. The people of Punjab, voters of Jalandhar in Particular do not trust him at all and they will not not give AAP another opportunity. Giving them another opportunity means causing irreparable damages to Punjab.”

Bajwa said that earlier, AAP’s National Convenor and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal threatened the voter of Jalandhar to get votes. Then AAP pressurised the Sarpanches and Panches in the villages. When they realised that their threatening tactics would not work on Punjabis, The CM started imploring them.

“I urge the voters of Jalandhar not to trust Punjab CM. He is a professional actor and he knows how to lie flawlessly. He took the Punjabis for a ride in 2022, during the assembly election, and once again he is repeating this”, Bajwa added.

Notably while seeking another year, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann yesterday said to the voters of Jalandhar, “If you don’t like my work, or there is any allegation of corruption against me, then I promise you that I will not come to you to ask for votes in the 2024 General Elections.”

On this, the opposition leader said that taking no action or delaying the action against AAP leaders, Cabinet Ministers, and Legislators, who indulged in extortion and bribery, is itself an unfair practice. Since he (CM) has failed to take lawful actions against those AAP leaders, who were involved in corrupt practices, it is inappropriate to give himself a clean chit.
